What We Believe

Statement of Faith

The following are the core beliefs of Calvary Chapel Elk Grove based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

We are a Bible-believing Evangelical fellowship that exists to bring people into a closer relationship with God.

Our mission, and vision is to proclaim the only true and living hope
that is found in Christ Jesus.
We believe and teach that there is
only one God, one faith and one Savior.

Our church has a verse-by-verse, precept-upon-precept approach to The Word of God, and our services and ministry center around this.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible, authoritative Word of God. Our ministry emphasizes the exposition of God's Word from Genesis to Revelation, verse-by-verse, line-upon-line, precept-upon-precept.

We believe that the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments were divinely inspired of God and are our sole basis for faith. They are the complete, full and final authority on all matters of faith and practice for the Christian Church.

We believe in the deity of Christ, in His Virgin Birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, His death on Calvary's cross to atone for the sins of mankind through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His forthcoming return in power and glory. We believe He is the only mediator between God and man.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful humanity, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential, and that repentance from sin and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the only way to come into a relationship with God.

We believe in the present and working ministry of the Holy Spirit. That He dwells in and enables the born again believer to comprehend and apply the Word of God; to live a godly life; and that His power and gifts are at work and available to believers today.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe it is important to uphold the scriptural practices of the early church. Therefore, we hold to the practice of water baptism and participating regularly in Communion.

We do not believe that either of these practices is essential for salvation, but that they serve as a demonstration of our living faith in Christ.

Worship

Here at Calvary Chapel Elk Grove, we believe worship is a response to who God is and what He has accomplished for us! We worship through singing, but also through how we live our lives.
(Hebrews 13:15)

When we humbly worship, we are offering ourselves as living sacrifices to Him.
(Romans 12:1).

As a congregation, we corporately worship our Great and Mighty King. Music and words are used to express our gratitude and praise to our Heavenly Father. As a worship ministry we want to lead the congregation in a way that is focused on God and not ourselves.
(Hebrews 12:2)

Why do we focus on God alone? It's because He alone is worthy of our praise and worship. He sent His Son to die for us on the cross which was the ultimate sacrifice and expression of His love for us.
(John 3:16)

This is why we worship Him!

God

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Revelation

God has revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, the holy scriptures, and through all of creation itself.

Mankind

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creations.

The Fall

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time.

Salvation

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.

The Church

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Resurrection

Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.
